Lighting for Freezer Rooms
Lighting in refrigerated environments presents critical thermal and electronic management challenges. Our luminaires are optimised to operate at temperatures as low as -40°C, where LED performance improves but the driver must be specifically tested.
Engineering for Low Temperatures
- Instant Start: Unlike discharge technologies, LED requires no warm-up time and delivers 100% luminous flux from switch-on.
- Condensation Management: Pressure-equalising valves (Gore-Tex) prevent moisture ingress caused by thermal contraction.
- Luminous Efficacy: The diode's increased efficiency in cold climates is exploited, reaching up to 160 lm/W.
Cold Operation Parameters
| Characteristic | Application Range | Technical Note |
|---|---|---|
| Operating Temperature | -35°C to +20°C | Driver with low-temperature components |
| Optical Material | Stabilised polycarbonate | Prevents brittleness from extreme cold |
| Control | Microwave presence sensors | Reduces unnecessary thermal load |
FAQs: Freezer Rooms
Why do conventional drivers fail in the cold?
Standard electrolytic capacitors lose capacity and the seal can crack. Our luminaires use industrial drivers with extended temperature range.
